What if you went off to war leaving behind the one you loved with all your heart, and all your soul, and all your mind, second only to God; and your opportunity to be with that person was, in manipulative ways, thwarted solely because you were of different races. What would you do, if years had passed when, due to a serendipitous happenstance, the two of you were to have a chance encounter, only to realize what you both had always, always known ... that you still loved one another? What if? What if? What if?

One might say better late than never, right? What if the truth had finally become self-evident and confirmed by the manipulative orchestrator of this sad conspiracy to tamper with the lives of others? And now, years have been lost, but all is well that ends well, right?

The problem is, she is now married and loyal to an abusive husband, and also mother to three little ones. And to complicate matters further, her husband has been conscripted by a certain underworld figure to do his bidding or bear witness to his young family's destruction just prior to experiencing his own.

Notwithstanding his discovery of the danger she is in, of course, her true love interest would be hard pressed to hold any sympathy toward the husband, right? After all, he is abusing his former sweetheart. At least, that's what you might think. But, the plot thickens when this plethora of what if's come together to comprise one compelling little story of love, murder and mayhem.

Now, according to some test readers, "Thorns and Roses" should be seen upon the big screen. However, for now, I'm afraid that you'll have to settle for what you just might consider a good read.
